Hurting -
I married way to young with the wrong person. I had no idea at the time how terrible the marriage and divorce could possibly be. Maybe my story can help someone who might be going down the same path, as I wish a friend had the courage to have a heart to heart with me.
I was married to a State Police Officer which I learned follow into one of two categories. First, do their job out of genuine care of serving others, similar to a teacher. The second is about personal recognition which can go as far as narcissism. The later was the man I married and the traits were slowly becoming apparent. I never knew the term narcissism until I sought counseling with a psychiatrist explaining his personality in great detail. He looked me straight in the eye and after 20 years of research began to explain the symptoms of the disease. I left my doctor's office and sat in the car for over an hour digesting the fact I've married a monster who is definitely sick.
